TWS offers the application of SSL certificates for secure websites.
A Range of Options
There are a range of options available for SSL certificates including free, semi-free, low cost and regular priced options.
Standard Cost
The current standard cost is £70/month. This could go down and is often available at an introductory level. The cost is dependent on the main host's price plan, not that of TWS.
Low Cost Hosting Options
For new customers, TWS can offer hosting with service providers that offer lower cost SSL solutions. Please ask if this is required. However, the difference could be minimal compared to the overall disadvantages.
Free Server Self Signed SSL Certificates
If you order a server for £500/y then you can have a free self signed SSL certificate. This type of certificate is considered of low value but in most situations is quite adequate.
Cloudfare SSL Certificates
TWS can configure current DNS to utilise the cloudfare SSL service. This is a low value solution but quite adequate.
Word Of Warning
In short, SSL certificates are a scam. Whilst they might have value for banks and major shopping sites like Scamazon, for most people they are of no relevance. However, Google is single handedly pushing this multi-million pound industry by declaring that any site without a SSL certificate is insecure. This is simply not true. Most brochure quality sites have nothing that can be intercepted. You are more likely to be attacked, tied up and have your credit cards stolen and your pin numbers tortured from you than you are a dark shady internet thief sniff IP packet data and discover anything of any use whatsoever. Whilst this warning might appear alarmist, you should hopefully get the point. You need SSL as much as you need laser motion detection in your premises. A simple burglar alarm will suffice. TCP/IP data is already very secure. However, the pressure from Google to get SSL is now significant and to some extent, can't be resisted. TWS hopes and expects SSL prices to come down and at some stage become an integral and free component of many future hosting packages.
