Blog - The Exciting World Of AI Images

So, in keeping with my objective to write more blogs, I was racking my mind on what to do one about and then it dawned on me that something new is the world of AI images.

In actual fact, I was considering unsubscribing to ChatGTP a few weeks ago and then it came to my attention that it now includes the Dall-e image creator, which is, like text AI, very exciting, but also not that great. The thumb for this blog was created with it. I haven’t touched it up as I wanted to show the sort of images you get, plus I don't have time.

In fact, I have been here all day creating 200 pages of generic AI content for a generic purpose and have another 200 pages to create, and so I think I already get my money’s worth, but the image feature is really just that bit extra to make the subscription worthwhile.

In fact, one very easy application, right out of the box is for blog thumbnails. ESPECIALLY when you consider that whilst I mostly take care to source thumbnail images from free sources, a year or more ago I made the mistake of using something that was in a free repository, but which in theory there was copyright for and I actually got some threatening letters over it relating to court, but nothing came of that. However, simply put, that form of legal jeopardy need never arise again.

Now I have used the image creation tool elsewhere to good effect and it is very special, if not prone to very odd results. As you might see from this thumbnail, not everything is as it seems. WEB SITEIGN? and what’s the 75 all about? However, this was the second attempt and I didn't do any more as I dont have time.

However, its an excellent start and could readily be made good in Photoshop.

So, what does this mean?

Well, in a nutshell, that it's quite probable that some fairly hi-end graphics can be created with minimal effort for customers who have little in the way of stock imagery.

Ideally I would present a long list of example’s but I dont have time, as already noted.

From experience, a couple of weeks now, yes, its a very powerful tool, but what can it do? Well, clearly, as stated, it can create graphics for web sites, but what sort? Well, for example, you can take a dull image of something and then make it exciting, such as an old workspace, and set it in a suitable light. Create images of people at work, create images of things you can’t source yourself, such as aircraft. Trucks with your livery.

If you are willing to accept certain failings, the world is your oyster and with perseverance, you can create images that are 98% hi-end professional grade items. Pictures of fresh food, animals, products being used or in situ in an AI world, such as on an oil rig or under water. Nothing is more than a suitable text prompt away.

So if you’re looking to get a site but dont have the content, then dont worry, TWS can now do it all for you to an almost perfect degree.

I would like to briefly note a few other points though, namely, a lot of people are going to be displaced by this technology. In particular the stock photo people that take everyone to court for so much as looking at their £100 a pop images of anything we can now create in a second for free. Such a loss. But I think it’s worth noting that it will have a far more damaging effect on a lot of skilled people. Whilst it’s clear that AI is not brilliant, just like its text counter-part, if you are easily pleased and want something quick for a flier or thumbnail or banner etc, then you are in luck.

My first thoughts were image placements at fairs, exhibitions, events and other public spaces that are incidental, all of which would have been prepared the old way, and at cost. In particular, I envisaged a hallway, maybe like at a train station or airport terminal with a range of images designed for no other purpose than to fill a space. All of that would have been created by artists to order, and can now be done at the press of a button.

Also, book illustrations, for example, an adventure story on a moorland, simple, fill your boots. In fact, I was looking in particular at Sidney Paget who created the art of the Sherlock Holmes books, or most of them, and who defined the imagery forever. Well, all you need to do is create the right prompt, for example, create a drawing in the style of Sidney Paget of a web designer trying to find the cause of a code problem. Whilst I have not tried that, if you had 20 whole minutes you could probably come up with a master piece.

So yes, where there was a gap between what smaller organisations such as TWS could offer in the realm of graphic design, there is now an entire inhouse graphics design department at your services.

That makes me think actually, I should probably look at my graphic design page, and if I dont have one, then add one now.

In fact, this blog has given me a number of thoughts, in particular, you might know that TWS manages web site for clients, well, part of that includes an integrated prompt system so that when I look at a site for review, I get an number of prompts that I know are good for all sites, such as Check Maps, as many Bing maps will need migrating to OpenLayer soon, etc. Now I can add the prompt, Review Opportunity For AI Images Content. And already I know of a few clients that could benefit.

In fact, another prompt for this blog was looking at another web design company’s blog and noting that all their blogs were more generic tripe about this and that, such as why email marketing is so great and ten top tips for SEO, etc. I simply can’t abide that sort of content for contents sake, so yes, I was truly racking my brains, which upon reflection, I should not have done at all, and instead asked the AI to think up a great blog subject for me.

Yes, so that’s that, back to the AI system to create another 200 generic pages for a GEO SEO system, such joy.
