Overview

Technical Web Services offer e-commerce services using custom written or off the shelf platforms using merchant services such as PayPal and WorldPay for client accounting and real time credit card processing. Shops can be set up to sell any number of item from 1 specific product to a catalogue of 1,000. Custom written sites start off at £2500 for a store with approximately 50-200 products that can be managed by the client. Additional items cost £2 each if uploaded by TWS. The annual management fee is £500.

NEW FOR 2011 is the TWS Paypal Special. The TWS Paypal Special is a template site (with significant hand modification) using simple techniques to allow for people to run and manage their own shop cheaply using Paypal buttons. The PayPal Special costs only £600. For more information click here.

Shops are generally better suited to businesses that are already trading in the real world or have a strong online presence with lots of established traffic. If your a business start up looking to profit directly from your shop from the word go then you could well be disappointed. There are many factors that effect the success of any online business, one of which is trust. If your shop does not have a bricks and mortar address or a readily accessible customer service contact number then customers will probably think twice about using your services. However if you have a strong online presence or a good reputation and or a bricks and mortar real world presence then TWS can help you get your online shop up and running quickly.

Limitations

Before TWS can carry out e-commerce development for you you will need to demonstrate several criteria as detailed below:

• Ability to provide goods within the scope of your service, ie, for the general public, dispatch within 24-48 hours or as detailed.
• Ability to provide effective customer support, generally with a dedicated phone number.
• Ability to ensure integrity of stock, ie, purge out of date items, ensure accurate pricing and to ensure descriptions match the item concerned.
• Ability to write terms and conditions, refunds policies and other legal text that has meaning within the context of the site and service without copying and pasting from other sources.

Whilst these are not strict rules, TWS will be looking to look at these and other areas before accepting any work to build an e-commerce solution.
